ok, I have created some files in Quark for mac. I need to send these files to my client for their reference for pc. When I go to open the files on the pc I keep getting errors:
PICT FILE CONVERSION ERROR #568 [107]
what does this mean? All of the.eps files in the documents won't show...
anyone got any ideas? please help...

quark creates previews of your images and saves them in the qxd doc as picts - there seems to be an error converting them, try usage to update your links.

Conversion error? doesn't sound too promising. I'll have a root around see if i can find anything

try saving the qxd file outside the root where your images are so the person has to find them, maybe that will work. i dunno

i went into my usage area and updated all of the image links.. it didnt do anything.
I get this error when I open the document, before it fully loads.
is it something in my illustrator .eps files? maybe I should resave them differently?

not sure if this makes a difference, it shouldn't.. but...
I created these docs on a mac Quark v4.1 and on my pc I have Quark v5.0. The client also has v5.0 on their computers...

had similar probs in the past. solved that -- dunno why it worked -- by saving as 3.something-doc-file and then open that.
other reason for that mistake: missing xtensions on the pc. look at the report-file quark creates if you make a collection and a) try to install the same xtensions at the pc or b) switch the extensions at your mac to off and then try to save-as again. if you use an extension who "shall" help ya with picture import, preview or other stuff dealing with pics this could create that mistake.
good luck ;-)

thanks jgrafx.. i will try that now

tell me what happened -- in any case. closer discussion of that: mail me!

quark always sucked in my opinion and i have been working with it for 9 years now,
but still, good luck!

nothing is more killing that the system shutdown bomb thrown by quark. i remember my times with an inline-xtension-writing-system at a newspaper. still makes me nervous ... only trouble with that. geee! quark 6 - *moaaaaa*

hello...
you could try to resave the eps files... but save the preview options as 'Tiff' rather that 'Macintosh'...
you never know...
- SLAZ0
ok, i saved the versions back, but no dice. I dont have any speacial extensions in the doc... so I will try the resaving os the images... wow this process sucks...
- jgrafx0
as a personal fight -- flame war -- i enjoy that too much than sucking ya... kodeine! so what!
c'm to my desk and lets smoke a marlboro togheter (you the marlboro, I'll do a morris...)
- jgrafx0
a) as already said: save eps as tiff preview.
b) try to make a printout at mac -- does it check /find every pic or are there problems saying "cant find"?!
c) are there any helplines in the eps files? unless they don't influence anything, when working with pshop6 there could be a problem -- delete every one!

I'm thinking that you are going to have to save your report so you have the coordinates and % scale of each image and then reimport so that quark updates its preview.
- jgrafx0
also check the settings for programm bout the number of preview colors being displayed... but thats a wild guess!

OK resaving the images to tiff preview seems to have worked!
THANKS AN EFFIN BUNCH!
