how do i add multiple pages to same file or workspace??

i'm a freehand user so pardon my ignorance.

    thx

not sure about freehand but in Illu you just duplicate the width of the document. Voila! 2! If you want 3, just do it again.

i knew there was a reason i hated illustrator.. take notes from macromedia.. put in an add pages option.

to me.. resizing my existing page doesn't make it multiple pages.. does it print page to page?? does it know what page it's on.. do i have to setup guides to mark off each page??

this makes no sense to me

instead of an 17x11 page.. i now have a 34x11 page.. it's still 1 page to me...

Adobe breaks apart the functionality I think you're looking for into InDesign. Illustrator is for the illustration piece of life, where InDesign is Adobe's flagship desktop publishing/page layout application. A lot of designers won't bother moving from Illustrator to InDesign for simple one page items, or business cards, etc. but there's no such thing as multiple "pages" in Illustrator without some 3rd party plugin..

    ::searches briefly through bookmarks::

I read in Adobe User to User Forums about multiple pages use.
    These were thse steps offered:

    1. Go to Document Setup. Make height 22 inches, width 8.

    2. In the Same window, (Document Setup), go to the second section, "View" and turn on the radio button "tile full pages".

    3. Click OK.

    4. When you go to the document, you will see 2 pages stacked vertically. You can add as many pages as you want by changing the height value in "Document Setup".

I think that's as close as you're going to get without commercial plugins.

i have inDesign here.. i should maybe start using that too

i know this sounds bad.. but we usually just do 1pg or maybe 2pg projects here at work.. we usually take our stuff to kinkos cause it's easy and cheap.. we are nothing special.. for a poster, i've just brought type over from freehand in PS and gave them a high res .tif

this time around i have like 4pg brochure done a little better.. laid type out in freehand.. so i brought them the freehand file with type converted to paths.. and guess what.... they don't even have freehand there.. it sucked.. so i needed to create .eps so illustrator could open it.. and i found it doesn't have multiple pages like freehand does..

i'm wondering if i even use inDesign if kinkos has that.. probably not..

anyway.. we are taking our stuff to a real print shop now..

thx for all the help guys!!

Could you save it as a PDF for them to print for you?

Thats utter shite, Multiple pages are possible on ill..but as someone pointed out its better to use an app other than illustrator for multipage layouts.

So..go to Document setup. Set your set up to the printer you are printing to. Then change the artboard size..something huge for alot of pages. Then hit the checkbox "tile full pages"

    job done.
