ya, saw bubblegum and really liked it. Evangelion is way, way more complex. it still has great battles and amazing "machines", but it's based in a Japanese interpretation of the Torah and Book of Revelations. yes, thick, thick stuff.

the reason i asked is i really like the character interaction and development in BC 2040 - they were very believable, and i was hoping i'd find the same in evangelion.

the original BGC was awesome.
This new 2040 series I am unfamilar with. but I saw an illustration of the new BUMAs and they look ferrocious.

yes, I'd say the character development and interaction is very complex in Evangelion. in fact, it's what really drives the story (family pasts and relationships, and those that develop through the story are all very complex and interrelated).

hehe, what's interesting is in the anime they are spelled 'Voomers' on monitors and other objects, but are acually pronunced with a 'B'....

I do feel that the voice acting has gotten much better over the years. but nothing will ever surpass what they do for the originals in japanese.

I've seen them spelled boomers, bumas, boomahs, bumants. I have several artbooks for the character designs of the original series. I loved that when it was out in the late 80's.

After all these years nothing fucks with Akira, visually, musically...nothing.

Nah... the original dubbed voices had character to them. And the poor translations are great.
That, and I couldn't read that fast when I first saw the movie.
