I'm working on a project right now where im going to have to ship something approx 200lbs and fragile in a wooden crate across ny state. Anyone know anything about fine art shipping companies and the like, or who would do this sort of thing? It seems fed ex and ups dont accept packages over 150lbs.

You can ask a specialty mover to do that. Some of them are specialized in arts. It is expensive, but at least they know what they are doing.
You can probable find one in the yellow pages.

why not rent a van for the day ala uhaul.
get a fried or two to help load and unload.
Take a detour on the way home, go to a strip joint and get totally trashed.
Then crash the van, drunk, on the way home.
Make sure you put your seatbelt on, and then blast the radio (preferably listining to something very trash-80's-hipster like the strokes) and run into a tree doing around 80-90 mph.
If all goes as planned, you will survive the crash that kills your two friends.
They will write up articles about it for local (national as well if your lucky), and when they quote you, mention the art show where your piece is going to be shown.
Instant stardom!

well, if you try to mail yourself, I wouldent be surprise if you wake up hooded in Cuba listening to white noise.
