Hey, a good friend of mine is travelling (touring musician actually) in Germany. next week. Anyone have any advice, info about the following towns: Affalter, Leipzig, Geyer, Greiz and of course Berlin.
Appreciate any info. Thanks!

haven't been through any of thos, just Berlin, Stuttgart, Aalen and Frankfurt. Sounds like he/she will have a great time even though the first ones you mentioned are smaller towns. Have many friends there. Germans are cool.

Thanks, Jason. Sounds like she will have a great time. She gets a driver and bodyguard to escort her to all her shows (!). People seem cool. Some have been emailing her to tell her they're excited she's going to play in their town...and someone emailed yesterday offering up their band to back her up...could be very interesting. Sad I can't go. :(

i'm living in berlin, nice to hear you find germans cool ;)
i can suggest to check out "alexanderplatz", at the center of berlin! other than that, berlin is full of bars and clubs.
also check out "friedrichsstrasse" and "brandenburger tor".
whats the name of your touring musician friend? what kind of music?

Thanks smek2. My friend's name is Amelia White. You can hear some songs here: http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/amelia2…
I think she's playing in Berlin at a place called Rickenbachers.

Tell him to hang out with the girls in Leipzig and especially Geyer. they absolutely love to perform what is known in the USA as "schlobbin zee knobbin"
This is true for all german girlies but especially in those two cities I think there's something in the water.

It's nice to hear, that your friend is coming to germany. I live in Berlin. Spring has just begun, the weather is getting sweeter every day. People start to go to the parks again, cafes are opening up, concerts, party, exhibitions, fun.....
But, she should be prepared, that people are a little bit political, these times. Some might want to share their view of the iraq-conflict with her, when they hear an american accent. Which doesn't mean, that she is not going to have a great time, in this awesome city. ;-)

Thanks, Christian. She's been a little worried about the anti-American sentiment. I offered to make her a t-shirt that says "I DIDNT VOTE FOR HIM". :) Hopefully people will understand that not everyone supports the war.

Don't worry about that crap, that Anti-American sentiment stuff is mostly from a distance, such as this place. When you meet yout average Western European, they are very nice and subtle about all that war crap. People are the same, governments are shit.
