Ok, essentially what is wrong with the rebranding? especially the Logo. Instead of hating remarks, towards the company or the design company that did this, please state your point as of why, in a more convincing way.
I see nothing wrong with it.

My main problem with it is now all those "United Pot Smokers" shirts they sell at Venice Beach will have to be changed to reflect the new logo.
That's the real shame here.

...and I though Newstoday was filled with professionals with answers that reflects common sense.

I think its pretty good. And straight away you can see its uses..and the shield, thats only a small step away from a "crest" that is oh-so-fashionable at the moment...so I can't see why there would be many complaints, atleast on this messageboard

those red tabs are kinda not fitting for me...maybe a different color...overall tho i like the site.. .

These are just my first impressions, okay. You dont see much UPS over here so...
Seems to lack the charm of the older logo. Old logo did look dated though. 3D puffy effects are the sign of a lazy designer. No visual concept except for vague 'global sweep' thingy, very common. A remarkable logo made commonherd, therefore probably seen as a sucess.

ick, the new logo looks so cheap. the gradient 3d? please.
that will look so outdated in 5 years. not that it doesnt now. the font looks like some default PC font. not as bad as the verizon or pizza hut logos, but pretty horrible

Just said this in the other UPS thread.
I doubt the 3d crap is part of the logo. They put that stuff on there to make the business monkeys ooh and ahh.

From the identityworks article:
"The new shield is far more muscular, even militaristic... appropriate for expressing preemptive competitive intentions. The downside: now that they look more like cops, they'll have to work much harder to retain the "nice guys/personal touch" image the "brownies" previously owned. "

It's the business monkeys that will insist the marketing people relay to their suppliers that the 3D effect must be used.

I know that branding is important and all that mumbo jumbo from designers to get a company to always look fresh, but we're looking at a solid company that is not waiting for their "looks" to make a penny, they don't sell food, they handle packages, probably I'm wrong here, but, nope let's go with FEDEX cause their image looks better.

It's a vague symbol of a prententious idea. Gone is a symbol that once was literal. Being the package tied by string was once acceptable. Today, packages tied in such a way are unacceptable due to high-speed sorting machines. But the metaphor would have stood strong for another 40 years.
On with the age of the vague.
That aside. It looks like a security guard badge. And the type looks a touch childish.
But that maybe to counter act the imposing shoulder badge.

paul rand is crying in his grave.
the new logo is ugly and communicates nothing.
they should have gone back to the 30's style logo.
