Does anyone know if you can if you can do a gradient from a solid colour to transparent in Illustrator? I know how to do it in flash, but can't seem to find anything similar.
Any help would be much appreciated!

if you do a gradient from the colour you want to white and set the transparency to multiply...
that may work...
it may not though...
but hey... it's worth a go...

multiply should work, that's right. if not, try using transparency mask. it's so screwed in Illustrator, I agree.

Transparency masks will work fine, but watch if you're creating art for print. You have to flatten the object. Probably better off bringing the art into Photoshop in that case.

Agreed on the carefull part; if you what transparensy of any kind; use Photo. I have burnt my hands a few times on too many transparent areas in a Illustrator-file.
