After exporting a MPEG2 file out of QT, I get 2 files: 1x .aif , 1x .m2v. So far so good!
But after importing these files into DVD Studio Pro it won't build a disc saying "data rate is to high" even when I reduce the Quality on exporting from Quicktime... any ideas?
I am getting nervous!

You can set the date rate in your video export settings. I'm not sure what it should be set too. Maybe the answer can be found at http://www.deja.com

from memory- set the vid data rate no more then around 7.6.
if your data rate is too high,
a) your movie may not fit onto your selected DVD disc.
b) cheaper dvd players will not be able to handle such speed.also check your sound is 48khz not 44khz if using using dolby compression

the mov is just 2:30min long an in QT-export-MPEG2 I only have the choice between "Bitrate 1.0 to 9.8" (it even does not work with 5.0) and save "Audio on/off" no chance to compress further here...

then somthing is not working right...do you have QT Pro, or are you using the download?
If you have the option to export to MPEG2 in WT, you should be able to set bitrate, and like previously stated, prolly shouldn't go over 7.6.

you might need some kind of additional compression or plug-in then? Hmm?

it gave me that same data rate too high error when i tried anything above 8.5. i put it around 7.5-8.0 and it works fine. i am exporting out of FCP using the same QT Mpeg2 exporter.
you may try reinstalling your QT plugin.

to everyone who was/is interested - the goal is to use the audio compression tool "A.Pack" to get a compressed .AC3 file. I just didn't see this little tool that is packed together with DVD Studio Pro... Now the movie even works with Bitrate 9.8
