you should be able to type in the coordinates.

I wouldn't use layers to begin with. They never appear correctly on browswers - as long as you configure your tables correctly you should have no problem!

I have a box that I created in photoshop, that I put in a table, now I have several little boxes that I would like to put over this first box and be able to updat the jpg frequently, I guess I could make the first image the background and make the boxes cells in a table but an associate of mine(another damn print designer) told me to use layer...but he uses Golive..anyway thanks for the suggestions and any insite you can give.

Uncheck the Prevent Overlaps box on the layers pallet. When checked, DW prevents you from dragging layers on top of each other.

Nah, it's when I place them somewhere then check it out in a browser it doesnt stay in place thay arent overlapping

hand code them. the wysiwyg for layers sucks, mainly because DW sticks a little 'layer' icon into your page to show you where your layer's source code is sitting...
I suggest plaotting out your coordinates in photoshop, then transfer them over to DW, and fine tune from there.
or click the little layer handle and deal with it in the properties inspector.
