yeah darkstar, you're so right.
I'm so used to being broke, I think I straight forgot about how overpriced it is in southern CA

I agree about San Diego. I lived there for years. I loved it, but it is expensive.
If you wanna get picky, it doesn't have much in museums, though it's getting better I guess. A few years ago it was kind of a cultural wasteland.

San Diego fine art scene is a bit weak too— I think the city is still finding itself culturally

Right now In Bay area, still dont like it. Californians are nuts.

I'm from Partick in Glasgow. I moved to the Middle East around a year ago to start the interactive division of Young + Rubicam. (Dubai, United Arab Emirates)
GOOD POINTS:
+ Constant good weather
+ No Tax on wages
+ Lots of amazing looking chicks
+ Not much else really....BAD POINTS
- 7 years for possession of dope
- They don't sell booze in supermarkets
- All the good looking chicks are $GOLD DIGGERS$
- Work ethic is, if you work late (even if the work is shit) you deserve a raise, and if you complete your work on time (and its good) they don't care and say you aren't working hard enough.Enshallah habibi
May Allah blow the wind out my ass.

stuff...
how hard is it to find staff for interactive there? Or are you importing your employees? It seems like it would be a kick to live there for a while...
And I agree about the chicks. I dated a Lebanese girl (ok, not exactly UAE, but similar looks) and I was sold on middle eastern girls. No wonder they cover them up all the time... they don't want the secret to be let out...

chilaquil....
most of the dudes we have employed are Indian guys cos they will work for A LOT less money than the average Westener will ask for. (mainly because they're all debt free and the India-Middle East exchange rate is phenomenal compared to ours.
I'm hearin you about Lebanese girls maaaan! Thats some high maintenance shit if you know what I mean.....
anyway back to the topic haha. Most of the CV s I have recieved turn out to be guys who are simply not telling the truth when they say they are advanced flash/xml/php/blah blah blah programmers. They just put that shit down because 9 times out of 10 the emplyer doesn't know shit!
never mind. We're looking for an intern if anyones interested...

I don't really know any other developers out here, so i doubt i've ever met you either of you guys
- chilaquil0
Darkstar...
Hmm... you're probably right. I used to work at a design firm in down town. Mires Design (Now Mires Brands). I also worked at some joke of an ad agency there, but I won't mention it 'cuz I'm sure nobody's heard of it.
I didn't know hitbox was in S.D. Northern SD is nice though (but pricey... ouch!)
- darkstar0
yeah no kidding, it's way too expensive, but pretty as hell. are you still in san diego?

I live in Pittsburgh, PA but also hate it, no culture; no life. Want to move to Cape Town, RSA but still waiting on job offers and fake marriage proposals. Will come through in due time and I will be happy again in Africa.
- chilaquil0
No I don't live there anymore. I lived there for about 5 years.
I live in Cancun, Mexico at the moment, but I'm in the process of relocating to Mexico City (see my earlier posts in the thread)
