What do you think of the new Absolut site? I really love it! I can't imagine how much time they put into it. I think it's setting new standards. Again :)

over egg the pudding

I think it's a bit over the top, too much information. But then again, I'm not a vodka nerd. Love drinking it though!

Over embelishing a very simple brand

Absolut is not a simple brand. Geez... What's up with al the negativity engage?
Are you two saying that they have to much content? That's a first lol! I bet you complained about lack of content when they had the DJ machines.
Oh well. Can't win em all eh?

I'm not sure what you're saying about negativity?
And in my opinion it is a simple brand.

eek!

I'm not saying a lot of content is bad. But come on, it's about vodka! It's not that interesting.
I don't know what the hype is in other contries but beeing swedish I agree that absolut is a simple brand.

It's a simple brand... and the site seems laboursome

also, my computer is slow :)

Just for laughs. What is it exactly that makes it so simple for you? I'm really interested :)

how can you over embelish vodka! this is the very brand that has frat boys hanging their posters up in their dorms. it's all about excess. i thought the site was cool, especially the hexagon map thingy

Absolut its not only a vodka brand, its the brand, the campaign, the reference!
absolut nice

Their billboards are simple.

Inu, neither is brown carbonated sugar water, but that doesn't stop coke or pepsi from spending millions of dollars on advertising

LOL @ Engage :) I thought you'd say that. Hahaha.
It's a shame you missed the big picture. Especially since you're selling "branding" yourself.
Branding is more than a logo and a payoff. The big brands like Absolut, Nike and Virgin are based on one single idea top to bottom. That's not simplicity. That's perfection.
Designers always confuse identity with branding...

You not gonna get anywhere being condascending...
And if it's perfection you're after... the interaction and feel of the site don't offer up that.

I don't mind if american boys hang absolut posters on their wall, that means somebody has done a good job. But I don't have the time for a vodka encyclopedia. However, if I'm buying new tennis shoes, I would probably check out the nike site and compare models etc. Catch my drift?
What I meant with simple was that the logo is very simple and classic. They use the same font in their ads as they do in the logo. The bottle is almost a big an icon as the coke bottle. I bet they could sell it with totally clear bottles. It's a clear liquid. The product has one purpouse only. Stuff like that.Posters on the wall, is that for real? :D

i guess i don't understand. so simple brands should have little or no content on their sites?? no one is forcing you to look at ALL of their content.
i really like it, especially the 'passion' piece.
