Can anyone tell me if DVD studio Pro is a tough program to learn for someone that doesnt use Final Cut Pro. Ive been using all the Adobe Video apps like After Fx and Premo. How hard would it be to put together a simple DVD? And how long should that take after all the video files and graphics are complete?
Thanks

It's pretty basic once you get started. DVD Studio Pro is like Quark for video. It's putting pieces together that you make in other apps. The bigger issues are with graphics for television in general. If you've designed for tv in the past you'll be ok.
Just have realistic goals. For me, coming from a web background, DVD interactivity seems pretty basic. Watch a lot of DVD intros to get a realistic idea of what's possible.
Just read a little of the manual and you'll be up and runing.

i use pinnacle studio8, that's dead easy once you have firewired your native DV to PC. With voice overs, some music and intros and transitions I made a 35 minute video in a couple of hours. Then you have some 20 mins to render the result as AVI or MPEG or burn it to DVD.

i've been using it since v7 and its been adequate. and as long as you have a firewire port you dont need anything else. Pinnacle do another version with a firewire card if you need it. It's economy but lacks nothing that Premier has. I am not sure of mac versions, check their web site for this. And it burns to DVD as long as you have a DVd burner.
