I am being asked to design, and produce html, for an 8+ page website. The payment offered is $325.
Is the answer:
A) Riduclous, that's peanuts!
or
B) Not bad, considering todays economytah.

Work out how long it will take you to do the work...more than 24 hours and i'd say answer A.

b. if the site is using html 1.0, otherwise no way

what kind of company?.. how long will it take you to do it?
if its one of those 1 day things, i wouldnt shoot too high on the price.
- shellie0
if it'll take you an hour to do though having the price that low means you wont have to report it for taxes.

both A & B are correct...
i would take the job and complete it in two days or so should be plenty of time, beware of something called, "scope creep" where the client will try and sneak in more changes and additions than the agreed upon, and for $325, believe me, they will try... just a some thoughts...

yeah i'd say if its just whipping up a template and copying and pasting text, that's a fair price. If they want interactive or multimedia they need to get their head checked.

it's ridiculous, because those 8 pages will turn into 20 by the time it's done. They will try to screw you if they can.
If you do decide to do it, get at least half up front.
:P

spend as little time as possible and do a shitty job for that kind of money. it's the american way.

also remember what a client offers is usually about half of what they can pay.

give them 2 quotes.
1 - what u can do for the price
2 - what you can really do for £$Xknow what i mean. also it's always worth showing them their competitions sites.

I say don't do it unless you are desperate for the $$. I had a guy come to me saying he only wanted a 3 page website and I stupidly said OK and then realized that there was just no way in hell 3 pages would cover the content (the pages would have scrolled to China!).
Know all of the variables before committing to something like that.

in those scenerios, i like to tell them that in exchange for doing the work at that rate, you get to put your logo/link on the site. That way it's worth your while...and if they eventually want it off, it's an additional $X, where X equals the amount you believe you deserve - $325. :)
Inquire further about other needs (print, identity, production work, etc.) and do the same. :)
