For my major project of my graphics course I am re-branding the Middle Rhine Valley in Germany as a educational, historical holiday destination.
These are some variations of the Logo I've come up with:
I have pretty much decided on the main logo elements (The "brand values" are historical, german, sophistication ...) but not quite sure on the details. Any feedback would be great! Thanks!

I like 4 as well but I'm not to sure about the signature font. Try something a bit more delicate and sophisticated to give more contrast between the signature and logo.

The proportion of #3 between logo and text looks good for me but the Logo lack of "R".
Is "R" important?
#5 is also look good. If I have to choose one, I will go for #5

I think coming up with more variations would be the best thing to do... dunno how much conceptualization you've done, but it looks like you're stuck on one idea, that may or may not be the path you should be taking with it.

I like ´em. No. 2 is bold, no. 5 is safe. Gothic letters never work anywhere else, but it must be nice working the only place it´s allowed: ol´Germanica.
