I hear ya, except that it was kinda reverse for me in that when I got my first design job I felt tru happiness cause id worked so hard to make it through school and it took six months to find my first design job. that happpiness faded quickly cause the job was like 2 hours away and it sucked. but that lead to me freelancing and starting my own company.
although i must say that ive never felt that happiness again even after starting my own co.

I am so grateful for where I am right now, having just started in the industry 6+ months ago. I have a major deal going on right now, on top of a thousand little projects, on top of my awesome full-time design job.
What's so amazing is when other people find me for work. I'm thankful I don't have to do much to get my name out there.

dunno why but this thread kinda reminds me of an excellent book i was reading a few days ago, Bruce Mau's "Lifestyle." It's all about leaving your mark on the world, hard work be damned.
