i am in a strange situation.
since 1999 i work here with my 2 bosses (weßre 3 guys in the studio) and create partyflyers and cd sleeves for a single client. the mood and feelings between us are very friendly, it is in fact a good friendship.
now i think it is time for some new roads and i want to leave this place.
i wonder how is a good way to say: i quit.
what would you do?

You give them my number and tell them you're legally changing your name to Danski under the witness protection act.

just say you feel like a change, and you'd like to stay in touch.

Send yourself death threats and then say you have to leave for your workmates safety.

tell 'em what you told us. the key is communication. if they know your real reason for moving on and they're your friends, they'll support you, (or at least should) in your decision.

Work late, get you mates to come in and load all their equipment into a van, then tie you up and gag you, and beat you up a bit. The next morning when they find you tell them they were burgled and attacked you. Not only will they feel sorry for you and give you paid sick leave but when you tell them you are emotionally scarred they will hand you a generous handshake.
Now you are free to start up your own design business with full financial backing of your old bosses.
Capeesh.

Just be straight-up and truthful with them - if they're cool - they will understand.
If your boss is a dick, nothing says 'I Quit' better than a log of poop in his desk drawers.....

Wanting to leave is understandable. However, if you don't have a next gig set up, don't kid yourself about how easy it might be to get another job as a designer. We're still in a recession. Consider it a depression relative to the graphic arts.
If you know what you'll be doing after leaving the job, then just handle it honestly. You're not doing anything wrong.

Fake your own death.

Nnnn, forget honesty man...have some fun, send them a ransome note, and tell them if they dont pay you will kill yourself.

Pass the pressure over to them. Start turning up late stinking of beer, design like you're drunk and start abusing their client over the phone. On no time at all they'll be wondering how to say, "You're fired".

Nothing says 'I Quit' quite like showing up for work without any pants on.

"Nothing says 'I Quit' quite like showing up for work without any pants on. "
.... or just not showing up...
that speaks volumes.

what about: I quit
- Celtstar0
It's a bit of a long shot but that might just work

take some dog crap and smear it on all the keyboards in the place. That usually works for me.
just kidding! If your friendship is tight I would just go ahead and tell them your situation and how you want to evolve as a designer and venture into other aspects of design.

thanks mates! i will talk to them. it needs a portion of courage but i do it for myself.
