hey guys, I'm in a bit of a rut. can't produce at the moment, guess you can say I'm having a bit of designers block...
what do you guys do when your blocked? any suggestions?

go do something, doesnt matter what. so hard being creative, sitting in front of the pc. i went pond skating, and thought about a ton of shit.

Simple answer: take a shower, drink tea, rub one out, etc.
Complicated answer: I don't know what I do. I think I just look away from the computer and stare at the wall, but I can't be sure.

theres nothing I can do when I'm busy, I just get on with it.

get some mates together and all take the day off work. Get down the boozer for opening and stay there all day.
I guarantee that by tea time you'll have had the best ideas in the world.
Take a pen tho' so you can scribble shit on beer mats / body parts etc. so you don't forget. (mind you, you might get so pissed you won't be able to read your writing the next day anyway)

I do stuff non-design related. Whatever. Go for a walk, read an eciclopaedia, try something new (pottery, paint, origami, snail racing)... most of my ideas come from taking things out of context and applying them to novel usage. I used to adapt ideas from film and TV, print and fine art to the web... back in ยด97. Then it became the norm, so I had to move on.
Another idea: check out what disabled access to the web is about. Gives you tons of ideas about different and new ways of doing things...

look at some good design whether it's print or online, even broadcast stuff. Meanwhile, don't get frustrated and have faith. It'll come back.

i always keep a few old, raw king prawns on the radiator.
when i'm BLOCKED i pop a couple in a sandwich.

All the best creative ideas come from sitting on the lav...you don't need to do anything like poo or anything..just sit there in isolation in a cubicle..and creativity should flow.
