what's a good application to create electronic music?
it shouldn't be some lil freeware thinggie, more sth the electronic artists use standing on the stage with their i-books (=
I'm on pc though ...

Make music with instruments not software! Your computer is worthless without musical talent. Please no more talentless hacks making electronic music. Are you a designer? keep designing then. Leave the music up to real musicians.

Sorry Im a dick, Try Protools Free for the PC you can mix up to 8 Tracks. But You must also get a wave editing program like WaveLab Or SoundForge. Your still gonna need some real equiptment like a Sound Modulator or a wicked Keyboard. Try digging for info here:

"AudioMulch is software for real-time sound synthesis, music composition and audio processing."
Creates Glitchy noises that wouldn't be out of place behind a skirting board or under a sofa.

I use Cubase on PC and love it. You do need about 1Gig of Ram or more and a fast machine though. Cubase has a bad reputation for crashing and bugs in the past but the new version "Cubase SX" has been re-written from scratch and seems much more stable.
If I won the lotto, I'd get the most powerfull Mac available and full version of Pro Tools. PC's weren't really designed to make music.

get yourself onto propellerheads site and download a freebie demo of ReBirth - a good few years old now but TREMENDOUS fun!
Two 303's, an 808 and a 909 including FX panels too.If its recording/mixing on the PC you are wanting to do ... then cubase and soundforge!

Hey konspiracy, u using cubase SX or an older version?

If you are getting into it, and want something comprehensive, might I suggest:
Install Cubase and Reason 2.0, get a MIDI controller or two, and start hacking away. This equipment will allow you to do whatever you need to.
Along with the requisite sound editing utilities, etc...
Also, a pro-level audio card never hurts in this pursuit... ;-)

good SW to start with on the PC 'till you get the hardcore hardware you're gonna need to run Logic would be Fruityloops. Its super easy to use and copletely customizable (you make unique sounds and tracks). The only thing i that the Midi rendering kinda sucks, but, after you upgrade you HW, you can export the midi to have another piece of SW render it.
