agree 100% with wadafa both on the balance & getting rid of some of the lesser shots.
your photos will never look the same on screen as they do on the neg/slide straight out of the scanner. unless you want the scanner's version of how your photos should look you need to fix them up.
prime example is persona 7 ( http://www.dustinross.com/htmls/… ). i'm sure on the print/slide there are areas that are 100% black, but on the jpg the darkest point is only 83% black. that wouldn't be so bad, but with it being displayed on a black background it shows up really badly.
here are a couple of examples. they're totally overdone, because i only spent 10 seconds doing them:

but you get the idea, especially looking at the pavement/dogs head. the scanner's made yours just look really flat.

nice photos mate - you have a great eye - nice site too.

very stocky and digital-looking.

some of it looks kinda stock (those which are flatter, digital looking) while others are plain damn good, what would help is to edit yourself better, be EVEN more critical, and show a bit less stuff but make it bigger size (more impact) ones that stand out, Urban, and Persona (b&w) really deserve to be highlighted...

CAJTBr, thanks for the comments and rework. I still need work on photoshopping these, and I agree, the images look much crsiper on a monitor when the darks are brought out.
yeah, I do need another edit too... i was trying to show too much I guess and the site loses coherence.

lots of the photos lost their luster when I compressed them for the web, how does one keep the file size down and maintain a crisp image at 400 px max?

They have a very /real/ quality about them - something unique.
I think they're excellent.

I agree with most of the people here, the composition is amazing, you have a great eye for photography.
A lot of the pictures in the color portrait section are slightly underexposed. Your subject is just a little too dark, if it means washing out the sky a little, so be it, it'll still make for a better picture. I dont know if this is an issue with your light meter or if you're doing it intentionally. If you're shooting with an on-camera light meter i would highly highly highly recommend getting a handheld one, or one for the hot-shoe.
Also in your black-and-white portraits a lot of them are kind of grainy for my taste. I'd experiment with different papers, or slower film speeds. They look like they were shot on 800 to me which is way too fast for portraits. I tend to shoot 200 or 400 speed b/w films. 200 will come out with some really nice shots.
All in all though very very nice, beats the hell out of most of what ive done. Congrats.
