i had to reinstall today ....
and when i did it said i didn't have a sound card ??what gives ?

haha, I just got a bluescreen on my w2k... oh the excitement when you boot and don't know if everything's going to be funked up or not..
"could not find this'n'that, please re-install Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional"... weeeeee...

xp sucks. windows sucks. have been using windows all of my life and im dying to try mac. i just hate it when the computer hangs.

damn't he beat me to it.
My archive drive is a maxtor, it cut's it self off once a day.
Maxtor says: Just reformat the drive.
I say: I have 60gb of archived client/development work on it.
Maxtor says: just drag and drop it to your current desktop.
I went: LOL
and said: Gringo, is your mom home?
Maxtor then said: "We don't haft to take this verbal abuse" and hung up.

1) Maxtor is the best brand in europe afaik :)
2) if u'r not wise enough to install xp, drop your pc and buy a mac, you don't deserve a pc

format the drive, delete all your work and start all over with a clean slate

how are you attempting to read the data?

by clicking on it, and it says "reformat" i noticed it was empty when i was reinstalling windows and it said all the freespace the drive had.

assuming this is a physical drive, did you take my previous advice and switch the jumper so that the drive is master and boot up?

if i switch the jumper the computer wont start, the drive has no operating system in it.

yeah i do.
let me just write how i got to this situation.
had xp working here fine, original copy, not bootleg.
then, viruses took over, computer went crazy, had to reinstall, cd didnt got detected.
i had a bootleg of 2000 server, so i installed that, everything worked fine, but i wanted xp back, didnt let me upgrade, so i had to install 98, then xp.i did that, and now i dont have acces to a year worth of work and mp3s.
if billgates had some decent competition, he wouldnt be makng crappy software.

yup, the bestbuy guy made me think about linux.
i took my hardrive there, everything is lost.
so all the work ive done this year isnt there besides what is up in my site.
i just lost a few things that i was really attached to, and that i had put a lot of effort on.
1. an aftereffects animation
2.a cd booklet that was all 3d renders and was coming out pretty good, and those renders took really long.
a couple of sites, and a bunch of flash sources.and all my warez. (yes ive been testing a few programs i was thinking about purchasing)
so it hurts, but this things happen to everybody, so for everybody who has slave hardrives, unplugg them before you reinstall any windows OS on your computer, just in case windows decides to format them.
