My mate was in an episode, said the writer is a genius, though unfortunately Coupling prolly not the right outlet for his talents. Here's the thing: Coupling is an English 'Friends'. When Friends finishes in the States, it will be replaced by a US version of...Coupling. Twats. The one thing I haveto say in its defence is that Friends is written by a panel of around 20/30 writers. Coupling did reasonably well and was written by one guy.

Whether it was written by 1 or 30 people if it isn't funny - it isn't funny. Maybe it was the acting/directing that let the script down. I know people who like it but I can't understand why. Good job everyones taste is different.

I don't know Coupling, but Friends is by far the most overrated show ever. I have never laughed once. I watched several episodes. I think people want to justify looking at the three supermodels who sometimes have a tough time getting dates, living in Manhattan.
Just watching the commercials, I can tell it's also become a real soap opera, too. Looks like a run of the mill shitcom to me.

Hmm...
Coupling (uk) has the potential to amaze and bore in equal measure.
Certainly the bizzarre Jeff is the key comedy character. There are times when the dexterity of the script and plot devices reveal the writers genius however...I some of the 'Girls V. Boys rants' can get tiresome.

To an earlier question, yes, Coupling IS being remade with American actors. Just like The Office and No 42 The Kumars (albeit with a Mexican family). By the way, has anyone evr seen the TRULY HORRIFIC US remake of Fawlty Towers, with some white-haired guy and a Mexican Manuel? For fuck's sake...
Also, does anyone find 'Grounded for life' funny? Utter shit. The 'studio audience' laughs uproariously at a fucking door opening...

The yanks will be missing out again. The UK show is really good. The odd guy (Jeff?) is the best. It is really unfortunate that you guys over at the otherside of the pond never get to see the original (or do you?).

well..I didnt know they where doing a US version, that cant be good but I think the Uk version is real funny, but everyone got diffrent taste, or my humor is not what it supposed to be ;)
