Lots of different fonts on the page tend to make it look a bit sloppy. Just a constructive crit

the main graphic (exhibition advert) is the swirly text and beyond my control.

I think it actually works fine.
Looks nice to me.The blue bar on the top cahnges in size when I go to NEWS or one of the others. IE6 windows

I don't think it looks sloppy at all, I like it!
It's kind of simple and fast and I quite like the fonts, they don't look bad at all mixed.

the site doesnt load on my machine

thank you all for the feedback...i have just noticed an error with the stop press news box (viewing on a borrowed PC Laptop with a slow slow connection).
Bit worried about the change in size reported in the main nav text links...abit more testing perhaps?
I shall continue to improve the site's accessibility.

wow, really good for a first site.
the font mix thing, i know what he's talking about but it doesn't bother me really. if you look at the first 11 lines of text down the left hand side of the page, you have 8 different styles.
the only thing i would definitely change there is that your 'contact the rps...' links and the actual content text are in the same font & style.
a couple of tiny points:
there seems to be an error in the 'stop press news' thing here (ie/pc) - the 'the date for the' text is huge.
if you knock down the rps shield by about 5 pixels it will be aligned to both the top of 'the royal photographic society' and the bottom of the 'home news links'. at the moment it's not aligned to either.
but yeah, it's great, really impressed that someone could do this as their first site.
