Ok, I really need a designer! I've seen so many horrible f*&g portfolio sites I'm afraid to click on the links. I need someone that can think, self-manage, keep organized, not scare clients, write email above a 7th grade level and make my Jaw drop when I see a comp. Flash expertise a big bonus.... Don't have to be local but must relocate yourself.

"need someone that can think, self-manage, keep organized, not scare clients, write email above a 7th grade level and make my Jaw drop when I see a comp"
shouldn't be that hard to find someone with those qualifications. why just a comp?

...why just a comp? What I mean is that there's a point where I leave the designer with the wireframe and when I come back and see the design... I should be blown away... As apposed to going "eh, er, ahhh, hmmm, maybe you should lose the 12 pixel bevel edges"

Hire Joseph J, 120k, kick ass powerpoint designer.

bostonflash,
obviously what you are looking for is an experienced creative professional with higher pay rate then $15-$20 per hour, most people looking for "great" designers offer.
If you want to attract attention of serious graphic designers try posting what is it that you are offering, not only what you require.
Sincerely,

If you want a kick-ass Flash designer, I know the guy. I worked closely with him in a studio in Boston for two years and he is such a great Flash designer...and he's an accomplished painter too...AND I happen to know that he is freelancing and looking for the right gig. Here ya go:

someone's going to be pissed at me for this:
post at Comm Arts' site, you gotta think 'older' (no offense to the oldies around here)
most likely a more experienced designer will not yet have discovered this gem of a site, they'd be doing more important things, like designing kick ass sites and being "old"
can't think of that many, but there's a lot of reputable places to post positions, don't think this is the ideal place to post a position.
ha, "old"
i'm 22, so anyone over 28 is sort of old to me.

This is why I'm affraid to click!

come on...bevels are soooo retro!
I can assure you there are no bevels on mr. konstruktiv's site...promise. Hey, you know I think I applied for this position and I have no bevels on my site either...but I did move to the south and I'm not a flash guru.
Have you heard of Bottlecap Studios? That's where I worked. Very sweet and cool people.

I recently applied for a job with you guys.
Damn, I didn't think I was that bad. From what you are saying. I must suck...

Barrel,
forget about people that say they want the designer that is worth something. They want "great designer for $15 per hour". They end up with a college grad using bevels and stuff. You are a very good designer and if nobody picks you, I would be very glad to invite you to work with my company as a contract designer.
Cheers man.

so you graduated from college in 99, and were a "design director" 2 years later?
Nice work, but hmmm....

I would never work for a company that had two stiff white businesmen in ties on thier homepage.

I can understand were you are coming from. My boss, actually pushed me into that role. I consider myself a senior level designer. He felt the way I handle the work, managed the team and worked with clients, fit the role of design director. The resume also does not talk about my boss passing away from cancer at the age of 32. When that happened, I worked as an interim creative director. Managing all creative work and production, until we found ourselves a great replacement for amazing creative director. This was an easy thing to do, because we had the best team at the time.

p.s.
thanks Boz for the nice comment

Crap, sorry Stephen. Small typo he was 34.

barrell, you should ditch that mouseoever effect of the text either dropping a pixel, or line condensing. it doesnt do any justice to an otherwise clean site design.
