This is just the HTML shell for what will be a site for Milwaukee's creative community. I have some concerns about how some people may perceive it. I'd like to hear what you think.

Dilative, I like it. Especially because I live in the city of Beer and fat girls. YAY!

I wanted it to look fun without being juvenile looking or to unprofessional. That's the only part I'm concerned about. The content is coming together nicely but, if you have any ideas for the site I'm all ears.

No offense but it looks very unprofessional. I live in Madison, when I am not at school, guess I am a neighbor or yours. If you want me to fully crit your site drop me an email.

I appreciate the honesty. I'll email you.

OK, what do you think of this?

i don't mind the fishy too much, however this is what i think:
new typeface/logo
new color palette
no sponsorslive'n it up a bit! i get that you're trying to have that "adolescent" feel, and yes, one can pull it off without having the "unprofessional" feel. believe me, alot more people than you think are advocates for simple sites without alot of extraneous graphics etc, currently the site doesn't look like a place designers would like to go. Granted, if the content is outrageously good, most people would probably get over it, but you'd recieve alot of shit.
honesty is the best policy.

the problem doesn't lie in the top banner image.
if you've got a solid design/structure most likely other elements like photos will not ruin the design.
