Question: What is everyone else charging for freelance web design work p/hour or p/day?
I split up my time between London and the West Midlands and I design mainly Flash sites and I'm very pleased to say that I can actually back most of my ideas with the back-end technologies needed to make them function.
I know Flash, Dreamweaver, Fireworks, Director, PhotoShop, Illustrator, Premiere, AfterEffects, 3DMax5, Cubase, FruityLoops, WaveLab, Sound Forge, HTML, CSS, PHP, ActionScript, JavaScript, XML, a little ASP, XHTML [...and a partridge in a peartree!]
I was thinking on the lines of £300 p/day or £40 p/hour based on work upto an 8hr day - whichever works out cheaper for the client.
What are your thoughts? Is this normal? Too much? Too little? For example I know of this guy in Coventry who has been doing very simple HTML sites with some PHP for small businesses [and I have to reiterate - very simple] and charges £300 p/day minimum!!! Barmey of not, he seems to get away with it.

If you can find someone to pay you £40 an hour or £300 a day then power to you!
But in this current climate clients are more likely looking around the £20 - £25 an hour mark.

Depends on the sit. If you're doing plain ol' html and basic photoshoppery, you may find you're being asked to work at £15-20 p/h. If it's heavier design/flash you can ask £25+ and if you're doing full-on scripting then you can decide for yourself, based on the complexity (£35+). Least, they're the tiers I've become accustomed to recently in London.. but then, I've not set myself up as a proper freelancer, and generally whore myself out as I see fit.

Living in London, I've had many unfortunate experiences of being totally ripped off by clients.
I'm not keen for this to happen again.
