This was in Adobe's licensing agreement. Is george bush handling legal for adobe now.
"By downloading or using an Adobe software product you are certifying that you are not a national of Cuba, Iran, Iraq, Libya, North Korea, Sudan, Syria,"
Maybe I'm missing something
- kpl0
it's been like that for a long time now. I'm guessing its because Adobe uses encryption software somewhere, and the US gov't regulates the usage of encryption software as a potential weapon.

a weapon in what way?

Apple had the same shiz on the line of G4's........

"The export and re-export of Adobe software products are controlled by the United States Export Administration Regulations and such software may not be exported or re-exported to Cuba, Iran, Iraq, Libya, North Korea, Sudan, Syria, or any country to which the United States embargoes goods. In addition, Adobe software may not be distributed to persons on the Table of Denial Orders, the Entity List, or the List of Specially Designated Nationals. "

what your missing is that USA doesn't do business with communist or rogue countries. Your obviously in the dark concerning it or are super young. :) They never have done business with these people man, it says the same thing on our passports as well. They don't want us in Cuba, Iran, Iraq, Libya, North Korea, Sudan, Syria. It's for our own safety dude and that has been in stone even before Bush Sr.'s reign. Even though personally I have been to Cuba and Northen Sudan.

while in US Peace Corps I travelled to Southern Egypt and sneaked into Northern, Northern Sudan just for shits and giggles. Cuba was flying in from Spain with a visa I got in Namibia, because I can speak Spanish.

US Citizens aren't even supposed to spend money in that group of countries as well. Even though I did bigtime. Hee hee!

i remember my friend's cousin couldn't bring his ps2 back from hong kong because it can be used as a missle guidance system.

Well, that's not exactly correct, Jason. The U.S. does HUGE business--fucking bends over backwards in fact to do business--with communist China.
Oppss...there goes your theory.
What this policy is supposed to be aimed at is not exporting the encryption, as someone said earlier, to states on the U.S. "watch list" which usually means they are support terrorism of some kind.

Safety? - wake up Yank. You should know better. Your wonderful leaders will stop at nothing now to taste the blood of the brown man. I hope you are proud - and feel safe.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOO.You are wrong mate.I didn't ever state the word CHINA read closer. I didn't say all communist countries either
- unknown0
is has nothing to do with fucking encryption. It might have half to do with that, so then why do we sell it to China then? Go look at your US Passport if you even have one. Don't be a typical American, leave the country for cultural reasons and learn something about other places.

i might as well blow your theory further out of the water, jasonx. i don't know where you got your ideas from?
there's nothing preventing US companies from trading with a few of those countries, including (with licensing) iraq.
you did say 'communist countries' without any reservation or qualification, if you didn't mean 'all' communist countries, which were you referring to?
about trade with iraq: iraq has an 'oil for food' deal. the word 'food' is slightly misleading, as they can buy pretty much anything other than things which may be used in the creation of wmds.
for example, dick cheney got in trouble a few years back because it looked bad that an ex secretary of defense was a major stakeholder in not one but two oil companies with large deals with iraq.
back then, rather than the US not wanting to deal with iraq, it was the other way round (baghdad put a ban on trade with US), and the oil companies had to get around this by bidding through overseas subsids. until recently, iraqi oil was the fastest growing oil import in the US. between the end of the gulf war and bush 2 coming into power, US companies (not including foreign subsids) had exported over $400 million of food, medicine and oil and water equipment. not a ton, but you're wrong when you say they don't do business with these countries.
iran, trade only takes place unofficially, but again a lot of that is due to iran. there was a big deal in the news last month because the iranian govt decided to ban advertising of US products.
sudan still trades with the US too. the christian right in america lobbied for a ban on trade to sudan, because the government there does nothing to prevent oppression of the minority christian pop. as soon as this lobby won through and trade was halted, a bunch of companies realised they were in trouble because they needed one of sudan's biggest exports. so the govt. agreed. now though trade for everything else has pretty much stopped, sudan exports around $75mil of gum arabic per year to the US.
syria too. the US trades with syria. trade is somewhat difficult (though it does exist) not because of US sanctions, but because of syria's stipulation that no syrian companies may do business with companies that have dealings with israel.
i'd guess you're probably right about lybia, but the rest you're just spreading pointless disinfo - and accusing someone of being 'in the dark' at the same time is a bit rich.

I was referring to the ones that were listed actually. It was a response to that specifically, Got me? How many countries have you been to? Do you even own a passport? Keep believing the media mate.
- CAJTBr0
so you're saying that everything you've said has been completely true, and everything i've said is totally incorrect?
