Met my wife online and we are living happily ever after.
Also know a friend that met on a BBS[!] and married way back in the early 90's.
It works kids. Better than the real world.

Don't do it. There's way too much DRAMA. Go out & get the real thing.
Some people do get lucky with online dating, though, although I've never known anyone personally with a success story...

My girlfriend and I met on line, through the personal's on The Onion, which is the same one used by Nerve. We met in Oct. 2002, talked for a few weeks on line and over the phone, finally met in person, and have been together for seven month now.
It's a good way to meet someone, time to talk to them before you see them for the first time. We had seen pictures of each other, I don't think anyone would do otherwise.
As for people feeling awkward about saying that's how you met-she and I really don't feel wierd about it, we both completely in love with each other and what someone else thinks doesn't matter. We have devised a good story of saying that we met on the EL here in Chicago though, to tell a few really old fashioned family members.

my friends and i have been playing around w/ Friendster for a few months. it kinda works like a pyramid scheme to hook people up, so it's best if you get a bunch of friends to join it with you. i've met two interesting people so far.

It works for people that are sick of or tried everything else - which is usually 35plus people.
I worked for an online dating company for a year and it does work - what have you got to lose to try? It's not for some but it is for others... try it and see - most women try it for an ego boost (women usually receive all the mail, men send it. Men are agressive online, women not so much). Men usually do it because it's just another chance.
