that 800 x 600 is too large a file for phone modems. 660kb just takes too long for ppl to wait. we all have not got asdl or broadband you know !!!!

I would go with the first, but pull some of that color from the second as callouts.
You also might want to use a little bit more imagery and not all graphics. Nice start though.

okay... that's the first one w/a bit adjustment on the background. yeeha... who cares now? The boss (after looking at this for a day and a half) just told me that the buttons at the bottom aren't SEXY enough.

I agree that the buttons arent sexy enough. Looks like clip art from a cd.
use a cool typeface for the bottom nav...that can be sexy.
