i already built a macquarium, looks great. now i was given another old mac classic. i'm looking for a fun new idea to take up my free moments next weekend.
here's the current list of spinoffs...
http://www.applefritter.com/hack…not happy with the mac planter look. hoping for something cooler. what do you think?
- mrdobolina0
that is quite possibly the nerdiest thing I have ever seen.
- poopy0
It does not look cool in the slightest

i know... i know... that's why i'm looking for something that is cool to do with it.
by the way, you'd be surprised how many people stop by my office and comment about how real my fish screen saver looks.

and this thread goes BUMP in the night.
i hope you all come up with some good ideas by morning.
here's what i came up with...
what about:
+ a bread box?
+ a piggy bank?
+ a gumball machine?
+ a door stop (it's current use)?
+ a beer cooler/refridgerator?
+ a slot machine?
+ a picture frame?
+ a motorized picture frame / flipbook?
+ a tv?
+ a plasma tv?
+ an anchor?
+ a golf ball return (for putting)?
+ a speaker?
+ a small subwoofer?
+ a stereo?okay, your turn now...

film it being tossed out the window and exploding on the street below.
coolest thing you can do.

Go for the mac planter and grow pot!
That'll make it "cool" too.

theres a mac classic page out there with one painted white called the "iBong"
you do the math.
- mrdobolina0
iBong sounds the coolest to me, use the cube case. That would be nice.

A guy I worked with turned one into a TV, a 9 (or 9.5"?) screen fits perfectly inside. He put the remote control sensor behind the disc drive hole and the dials on the back.

- poopy0
Thet's quite cool?

My buddy Jovino wrote a director projector that will turn your classic into a clock. Pretty cool. You can download it here: http://jovino.com/stuff.html

what do you call it when you have little paper figures and stuff that make it look like a 3d room... yeah, you could turn it into a cheesy 3d room with people at a party. get paper dolls or something and create a disco room with a real small disco ball. with real lights and everything...
what do you call that sort of thing? a panorama? it's something like that.

a maquette?
- xrusos0
nope... don't know what a maquette is...
but the word i was thinking of was "diarama"
any other crazy things to do with an old mac?
- xrusos0
oops, i guess it's diOrama
but came across this in the meantime:
