Hi, I need your expertise on some issues with the interview.
It's a contract job that involves everything from design, flash, project management. I'm currently working as a designer, but not happy at all with the work.
For the interview I will need to bring in written samples of proposals, pitches and specs I've done before.
The truth is I've rarely done any proposal writting and pitches. I was going to just tell him the truth, but I really want a chance to work for the company. What should I do??
I hope he's not reading this.
Please help!
Thanks in advance.

In a situation like this I believe honesty is definitely the best policy. Show what you've done, what your capable of and your enthuisam....If you come across as confident and willing to learn, then Im sure you'll do fine. Be honest, you dont wanna be stuck up shit creek, believe me, Ive been there!!!!

thanks phubar, I think I will. I know people who've been fired because they couldn't do there job right.
The good thing about this is that I didn't apply for the job, he just contacted me 2 days ago about the job.
But still nervous because as a designer, we are rarely required to do that kind of work.

thanks Phubar and BonSeff, it would be real dope to start the new year with dat job. Even if it's just contract.
But I'm use to rejection, so it won't be anything new!
happy new year guys.

Best of luck. Don't worry. Once they see how up front you've been and how eager you are to work for them, you'll have no problems.
- IloveQBN0
thanks for all your encouragement! This really helps me prepare for tomorrow.

Good luck, QBN...you can still be very well versed on proposals and the process so that when the issue comes up, you can knock them out with your visionary grasp of the proposal process! ;]

well enthusiasm goes a long way, but best to be honest, but bullshit a bit.
but remember to interview them, ask what prospects u got if u get the job? how do they see their company growing? and say you are sure you could add to their profitability with your expertise. I know we love design, but the bottom line is to make money. its so boring but true !!!

good luck on that piper, im sure youll get the job.

Thanks all. I hope I get this job, even though it's gonna be contract, I think I will be much happier.

Here's some reality. If you are honest and tell them you have no experience doing what they need, they will find someone else, However, if you tell all you know about pitches and proposals (and i bet you know plenty at least second hand) you will be in fair standing to get the job. Be confident. Sell what you know. Don't be afraid to embellish. Everyone who gets the job does.
Good luck and Happy New Year.
I'm drunk.

oh shit, I already emailed the guy telling him that I've never written anything like that before, but have helped out with pitches and proposals before. God help me now!
