I think it was fantastic, however I agree that the battle scenes were so massive that you'd get desensitized with some of the most amazing scenes. It seems the only breather moments were when they'd cut back to the Trees (before they started kicking major ass). Great movie though!

"i'm talking about fundamental aspects of the story as written by the author. characters being completely perverted and portrayed as something much different than what tolkien intended."
i couldn't agree more. wtf happened to Faramir? why did Peter J deem it necessary for Frodo/Sam to be taken to Osgiliath?
i can understand why things had to be truncated or left completely out, but why change the plot completely (ie elves showing up at Helm's Deep) or add things that didn't happen (ie Aragorn falling over a cliff.)? unnecessary changes like that bother me.

but that doesn't change the fact that i love the movies visually. and now when i read the books i have a more vivid image in my head.

too much crying in this one.
also too many long drawn out speaches with cheezy cliche's.
also the skatebaording down the stairs on a sheild while shooting at orc's was too much.
other than that, it was ok, but not as good as the first.
