my main problem with spielberg's version of pkd's really interesting short story is the fact that spielberg has this insane want to tie everything, EVERYTHING together... and then explain it all to us again at the end of the film...

and to devot 25 minutes of film, explaining to the audience what just all happened in the past hour and a half of what they all just watched is such a waste of time....

i do believe the audience is smarter than he thinks.

and if they are not, fuck them.

you don't dumb a story down just for the audience' sake. fuck those people that can't think conceptually. fuck those people that can't tie ideas together in their own head and figure it out for themselves.

i'm tired of hollywood panning to the masses of stupid americans and ruining good fiction at the same time.

ooooh great. i hear dumb and dumberer, the sequel is coming out.

    fucking great.

the world is filled with inspipid jackasses.

i don't like spielberg and i don't like big budget sci fi.

i thought this was quite good though. it's not dark enough, it could have done without half the cg and the epilogue was ridiculous, but the plot was interesting and samantha morton and max von sidau were excellent.

    good comments all around .
one of the things I enjoyed most about this DVD / Film was the 2ND DVD ( behind the scenes ) .

It said that in pre-production, Speilberg gathered the great minds and scientists of today, and put them together for a weekend - a BIG ASS, INTELLIGENT THINKTANK of sorts . They came to talk about the future, in 50 years time . The output is seen in the movie, but what is cool is that they kept a sensibility to it all, and what I mean by that, is that they wanted the elements/devices / technology in MR to be REALISTIC . in other words, products that we would have in 50 years time . I admire Speilberg for that, instead of making a untouchable SCI-FI movie, it;s built upon the actual future possibilities .

    tasty

tc_fisher you r right on the spot with your comments. I'm mean, SS really makes movies for complete dumbasses thus i strying to explain EVERYTHING!. Funny this is that most of us are trying to do the very same thing, you know making the navigation of the site easily understandable for the masses and such.

And if a guy with average knowledge of After Effects and Houdini can figure out how mots of the effects were done, then it IS bad.

...because apparently it could be done without those.

Anyway I just finished Mulholland Drive and have to say: it wasn't weird enough for me. ALthoug i loved the fact that there was almost no postproductin ecept streigh cuts.

well, I thought the story was lame, but the action and cinematography were well done, especially in that one's guys apartment when he is shooting up, that French dude, that was cool, there was something magic in that scene.

sadly enough, i just saw this for the first time today...

i read this thread before i watched it, which is a trick i suggest to anyone who still hasnt seen minority report. it was a pretty good movie after i went into it expecting to see an absolute piece of shite. when you expect crap, and get something even a little better than crap, then the crap can seem pretty good, or at the least, not so crappy.

i will have to watch it again in a more critical state of mind, as opposed to the, 'i wonder how crappy its gonna be' state of mind.
