Do you need a job? Desperately looking for a media/design job? Well I wish you good luck, and I mean it, the economy is rough right now, mister the stupid president can get me laid off if any war develops, but I don't have a media design position, I work at a warehouse, why look for a media job if it means everyday thinking of a posible pink slip? I know you spend your money and that you need to compensate your skills, but that's not a reason to stay unemployed living off mom and dad. I want to beat my neighbor with a bat, cause he's been looking for "new media" employment, yet he says he's too good to be working in a warehouse or a plain office, that those jobs are not at par to his standards, give me a fucking break, swallow your stupid ego and go find a job, don't spend your days looking for a job "on" the computer and then complain about never getting a chance. tired of lending money, get a fucking job!
:)

I agree that at times like this, one must treasure just having a job. But, I don't think that a person that doesn't want a warehouse job is considering themselves too good for it. I think that it is a job that can easily distract you from your true path.
When I returned to Milwaukee after a few years away, I took a job at a paint factory where my brother worked just to have a job. Over a year later, I was looking at advancing my way up through a frickin' paint company. I got out of that place fast and found an entry level design position somewhere.
But, with all that said, I know things are a bit different in the current economy. I say good luck and always keep your sites on what you truly want to do. Don't let it go too long before you get back to it.

If you're not too proud to do something "beneath" you, you will always find a job......
and remember:
You can be a king or a city street sweeper, we all have to dance with the grim reaper!
GET UP OFF YER BACKSIDE AND GET A JOB AND STOP WHINING!

after getting my BFA one year ago exactly, i worked at the warehouse docks for 3 months or so, then at a paper factory... packing paper into bags and boxes on an assembly line.
the docks was the worst job ive eer had (my wife refused to get a job ... thus she is my exwife now) and i know about bad jobs, cuz i worked construction after highschool to save enough money to enroll in college.
never be too proud to feed yourself. adaptation or natural selection. the choice is ours.
i have a good job now, but if things get rough... you know where to find me.
(scooping shit out of a barn for minimum wage and eating ramen noodles like always... but at least i'll be eating)

I plucked turkeys one Christmas, I got 2 of our British pounds per burd!!
Each burd took over 45 minutes to pluck.

dude, no offense as I am in same boat, but you are probably in THE WORST position for finding a job in that field as many of us are. Look forward to possibly working in 2003, maybe 2004. Sucks, it's been me for 1.5 years with no work.

not to sound mean, but if there is a WAR, then the economy will get better, sad but true. There have been many people waiting for Bush to drop a bomb. It's all about survival of the fittest mate, in reality, think about it.
