There is going to be a seminar / presentation where a bunch of engineers are going to talk. I need to record those presentations and make them available on a website.
Whats the best way to record the thing and go about it? I am thinking streaming some realaudio would do it. But how do i record? And how do i convert it to realaudio format?

Well, you could get some petty cash from your company or whatever and get yourself an ECM-MS907 series microphone from SONY, only around $80 US bucks and then connect it to either a Mini-Disc player or if must a tape recorder of some kind as long as you can upload that content to your computer somehow. As for converting it, you will have take some Audio Editor such as Sound Forge 6.0 or Wavelab and then convert it to that format, you shouldn't lose too much quality, all in all not that easy.

ill talk to you as soon as i get home tonite man.
ill crank up MSN as soon as i walk in the door.
=)
- Biofreak0
not that easy?
nah man. just depends on the quality you want.
if you dont need super hifi shiz, then you dont have to spend a ton of cash. you can export from AcidPro (i know you got that one) and get your real audio.

but how do i record it? should i record it on tape and then input it into the computer? if so then how?
Is there a way to record the entire 2 hour long presentation directly into the computer?
And i've just been told that we might have record video as well.
*sigh*

well..........
If you want to record straight into your computer you need a few things
- Laptop or tower
- Interface - Sound card with inputs, Protools MBOX
- Mic(s)IF you have this stuff I can tell you more
- lifeinbinary0
whatever is needed will be bought or acquired. laptop with a soundcard with audio input is no big deal.
please tell more.

well what equipment are you dealing with here man? It would help to know? You can in fact record directly onto some virtual recorder from a MIC directly into your computer. VIDEO? Have a DV Camera?
- lifeinbinary0
bio - sure thing. i will log onto msn too after i get thru a final today.
exam week sux00rs!!
- lifeinbinary0
nope - dont have a DV camera. but all this is for a research center at a university. they have a media dept where i can borrow equipment. so all in all - all things should be acquirable.

make sure that with whatever sound recording software you are using allows you to record for that long, otherwise it might fuck you up
- lifeinbinary0
i am being told that soundforge is that wy to go. and will take 1.2GB for all that recording. And can use Real Producer to conver it to real format.
What do u guys think?
Whats the best way to acquire these?
- unknown0
Yes, Sound Forge is easily one of the best sound production and editing tools for home computing. Let me know after you are done with the recordings and I can help you BOOST your sounds with a few tricks I have. ;) Wavehammering and Reverb and shit in real-time editing!
- unknown0
if thats the case you should be able to get your hands on a lot of stuff. Theoretically, you should be able to line-in the DV camera and record using the same technique for sound.
- Biofreak0
milk those guys for all the equipment you can get. haha.
MILK! (and then lemme borrow it. heheh)
so they will buy you some nice legit software? damned nice.

HAA HAAA LOL!

you can also E-mail me too man and I will try to help you out, I will give you my MSN handle or if you want to give it to me now I will invite you in.
- lifeinbinary0
haha. I am not too sure how much they are going to buy for me. But pirated software is not an option. So i am probably going to ask them if they can buy me SoundForge 6.0 and Real Producer.
What they are wanting to do is have a video kind of a thing but for the video part it will be just be the slides for the presentation with the voice of the speaker in the background.
I am thinking i can do this directly with Powerpoint (with embedding the recorded audio) or I can use some video editing software and for the video just use the slides somehow.
Any idea about what video editing software i should go for?
JasonX - i will email you my msn id and then you can invite me. Thanx man.
- matt240
are you on MAC or PC? If on MAC just use IMOVIE.
Soundforge is good for capturing the audio. And RealProducer is the program if you wanna stream it. However, you don't need it if you just wanna drop it into IMOVIE and export as a quicktime.

ok E-mail man?
