er...
looks functional... the background graphic is boring as hell though. and the colours/design is kinda bland...
if this is for your demo-reel, don't go half assed, you never get a second chance to make a first impression (according to thecommercial)... and this first impression is blah.

I don't get it, u give the wiere a choice to see your stuff in 5 min or 10 min version?
- MrChat0
Would it make it better if i said that the background graphic has a relevant theme but not till you watch it? kinda like a book.
pr2, i give the viewer a 5 or ten 10 min choice and the x tells you what's selected.
- pr20
it doesn't look like X...
if you have many shor pieces, even few second long, i would rather see a list of those then a composite. I would stick with the longer version -- 10 mins isn't that long so unless the short version is so much better edited then just give 10 min long version. Some bio would hur either.

how exactly do i see the action? there is nothing happening.
your code doesn't give me a clue as to how to get to a quick time either.

pr2 are you saying >< doesn't look like x?
i put in that format because it's for an application for film school, plus it's set so that if you press forward or back on one's controller one can skip shors...
i'll post up a quicktime later...i'll let y'all know.

I would suggest to 'jazz up' the main screen menu. the imagry the user will run into at first will create the mood for them to acept the visuals from either the 10 or 5 min selections. with that in mind, your not really giving them any emotion to play off, not even eye candy. why not shoot out some comps and ask your peers to tell you their thoughts on it, that way you can at least get other perspectives. type is your friend.
best of luck!

errm sound creates mood as well...might want to comp in flash, so you can give them somthing to listen to.

Not sure how valid you'll think this suggestion is, but I don't think you should have the 5 min or 10 min choice. If you can do it in five minutes, do it. Otherwise take the 10 minutes.
My understanding: If you give the viewer the choice, he'll think that the 10 minute one has stuff that the 5 minute one does not. If that is true, then show the 10 minute one and don't show the time. But if that is not the case, then only put the five minute one. Moreover, I think people will generally pick the five minute one due to its shortness.

you might run into a problem with the contrast of the menu items on their background.. have you looked at this on a tv? i think it will jump and squiggle on screen. might try a less-contrasty design.

Yep, you've got to be carful with those cheeky tv screens. They do some odd things.
I think it looks boring, I also agree with getting rid of the 5 - 10 min choice. Go for less. I reckon unless your portfolio is so amazing i'd get it down to about 2/3 minutes. Treat it like a pop video.

ok, i think that if the background were kinda grainy and greyscale, then you might get some good things goin on.
right now, it just looks desaturated and blurry. like a low quality jpeg. i might try to find a better quality image to work with or make the image grittier.
i realise that it is going to make better sense if i watch the movies, but right now... it just looks like a bad image on a menu.
