I have both a top of the line Mac dual processor and Dell 2.4 Mhz. All apps are the same on both boxes, with the exception of Office on the Dell and Flash 5 on the Mac.
I treat both boxes like shit...I beat them up daily. I end up using the Mac more because I feel like tossing it out the window less than the Dell.
This from a Vato that used to be hardcore Windows. Try OS X...you'll dig it. Even one of the PC dudes at Infoworld called the Tibook and OS X a "PC Killer". Yep...Infoworld. No Mac lovers there.

A 3.06 P4 machine can render the same file in AE in almost half the time a dual 1.25 apple will do, How's that productivity wise??
...and will save you as much as 600$

clone: how many are you excellent at?
sumatra: you are measuring penis size again

sweetas-> no im talking about money.

sorry dude, talking about maintence time spending on machines is unforgivable, I know because I use both, but all good, really, there's no harsh feelings, I don't mind either, just prefer a CAM

benchmarking a single p4 chip vs 2 mac processors is ridiculous, when a macintosh comes out with a 3ghz processor, why don't you see how it goes then? yeah, you won't..
pc's are still better at crunching numbers, macs rule for video.
as for as photoshop/illustrator goes.. either are nice, if you could get OSX on a pc... life would be sweet.
anyway.. pc's are cheaper
its your choice, I use PC right now.. as soon as I can afford a decent g4 I'll get one.

Sorry man, bit slow this morning,
"..talking about maintence time spending on machines is unforgivable.." Can u rephrase that? I didnt get it..
- sumatra0
quik > what are you talking about?
I benchmark a single p4 chip vs the dual mac 'cause thats what i can buy TODAY. I cant compare the p4 with a 3GHz mac which doesnot even exist in motorola's most wildest dreams and i cant compare a dual pc with it 'cause the difference is ridiculous. Get it?
I compared the best you can buy -now- from the 2 worlds with an all platform tool and like AE,

love u 2, :)

really, the only thing which apple is doing right (for them) is not making an X86 version of OS X, or if they did, you'll see the processor so far ahead that this whole war will start again... let it RIP

Having read the issues about Longhorn and palladium, i wish apple make this move.
The hardware game was lost for them... even their 64bit platform 'll come too late..

can't wait for the day when apps just open instantly and no ram limits
