http://www.discreet.com/products…
It cost much more than even the production bundle, though. Integrates well with 3D Max.

Combustion is a compositing program Ae is mainly broadcast graphics one. They do not belong to the same category. Same goes for most of discreet products.

I've always thought mm director was pretty similar to ae. At least I used to use it for making special effects videos. Not too great output options or video editing, but that really is not AEs strength either.

Director and AE has absolutely nothing in common (if you try to make anything proffesional I mean).
Combustion is at the same level as AE but I don't like it's interface.

I was expecting that reaction. The thing is that Director is pretty versatile and lot of peeps do not realize that. It has its limitations, but at least if you do a lot of 2D stuff you can be pretty happy with it. I guess it is just easier for me to do shit in lingo rather that try learning to do the same things with AE scripting stuff. For each to his own.

you're right blend.
but he asked for similar programs to after effects.
cheers

aftereffects is a smarter option than combustion.
but combustion is better.
but, in this kind of stuff, all this programs are good, what really matters is the computer.

what REALLY matters is the user
