In terms of aesthetics, what looks are more successful or what would you like to see more of? What would you like to see go away in general?

Altought it might be done currently, I will like to design my layouts flawlessly on different platforms, I know that coding is what mostly are dealt with different browsers and systems arquitectures, but is the same coding that reassembles the layout on a page without the need to depend on universal compatibility of flash technology.
Layer positioning, tables, CSS, things that aid how our text and the way it's displyed on every single browser, without having to live with the limits of checking for browser versions, or different pieces of codes for every on!
:)

also, it is always a challenge to lay something out in Photoshop then converting it to html - more use of layers, etc.. would be helpful

I'd be happy if 4.0 browser users would finally convert!!!!
Clients drive me nuts with this. There are people who just dig Netscape 4 for some reason.

is it a big deal to a company to upgrade browsers.. good lord i hear you man..

I would like to see people push the medium to it's limit. Creatively and technically. More broadband experience. Less outdated mentality like websafe colors, even though it's less than 3% of users. I'd like to see less imitation: 3D shattered backgrounds, pixel drags, etc.
I want to see intelligently marketed content that directs people to corresponding tv, print and I want to see the other mediums direct attention to the web.
Now, that MX is here, I want to see more video in Flash.
I'll stop here, before I can't stop myself.

Forced upgrades for outdated technologies... (i.e. Netscape 4.7 downloads and installs it's successor automatically and ceases to work at all after a certain date)
A choice to have absolute pixel level page layout control (like in Quark or InDesign) if the publisher is targeting mainstream screen sizes, broadband etc...

more spinning 3-D logos.

definitely more control over text. kerning, leading, super/sub, proper dashes, drop caps, custom indents, etc...
more creative nagivation schemes are needed. this whole bar-of-buttons thing is tired.
interfaces that evolve (within limits) as they're used...
some universal standards, in browser technology -and- site design, would be nice too.
and get rid of the "center" option.

Streaming capabilites, but Flash MX Server is one its way to doing all of this as long as the hardware keeps up. Go broadband GO!!!

I can't believe this thread died so fast.
You'd think more of us had ideas for making our own jobs (on the web) easier ... if that's the right word.

vectors. lots and lots of vectors.
- blingbling100
Hell, why not turn it into a 3-D world, where you can interact with everything? ;)
