Am I the only one to think that this turn page fx is annoying?
- jevad0
overplayed maybe...but not annoying...it's a nice effect
- Blofeldt0
I quite like it.

do you find annoying turning the page of a book by your own hands?
- gabe0
i thought it was beautiful the first time i saw it over at that http://www.perfectfools.com
since then the effect has been getting it's fair share of play, but i still think it's really a very nice touch.

i agree that it is a pretty good effect (remember the first time you saw it and what did you think then?)
i think its just because we see it a lot, being web nuts and all. imagine all those part time internetters. they must think it rocks. my mom said she saw a site the other day with "little stars following the mouse", and she was impressed enough to tell me about it . i guess she would find page turning effects mindblowing

i like it.

here is a nice example of a page turner......the best one i've seen
http://www.hp.com/country/us/eng…check it out

it can be a bit slow sometimes, esp. if you are on an older imac and the pages are quite big, jerks too much.
They have a massive plasma screen in the british libray gallery with the same effect so you can browse through books that are too fragile to handle.

That hp effect was the best I have seen.

someone should make a page turning porn site. like a porn mag. or at least a take-off on it.
- unknown0
I quite like it, but agree that its been over used!!!
- Duck0
It's neato. Like a bevel, glow or lens flare.
Using it in library to read old books is cool but if I wanted to flip through a mag I would buy one off the shelf.
It shall die.

i like the effect.. but i'd rather just click that drag... not a big drag fan myself..

it sucks. it sucks in the same way that keyboards that sound like guitars suck.

I agree. Making a computer application mimic a book for no apparent reason is kind of boring, and borderline annoying.

i like it and have jumped on the train.

I agree with snowtrooper. I think we think its over used because we see all the newest things and hang around on design portal sites like this one.

i love it
whoz going to make the page tearing one, so you can jackup someone's work
- unknown0
i've whored it...

it looks cool. but as a navigation scheme, it sucks.
it would be some much quicker and faster to just click through the pages, or scroll thru them...
plus it's really annoying when your cursor get stuck or the page decides you didn't turn it right and it snaps back closed.
basicly, it's a fancy scrollbar... 'cause it's completelty linear, but I guess if you want to use it to add to the 'experience', it might be usefull.... I think it might screw up some novices though.
but aside from all the suck, it's a beautiful technique, really well done, it's no wonder everybody and their dog is using it.
