Does anyone else recognize the irony of intense national sentiment on an online community? Isnt the point of this place that we all have common ideas and goals? Im here in New York and I am more similar to the desigener/graphics guy in Germany than most of the thousand of people I ride on the subway with every morning. But because I was born within the socially constructed boundries with these people I must have some loyalty to them. and some animostiy towards the German guy.

Unfortunatly this nationalism helps those who are really responsible for the many of the worlds problems. The European s dont blame the wealthy Europeans profiting from war and global poverty, they blame the fat, lazy americans.

The Americans dont blame the oil and car companies for creating an environment in which our interests are tied directly to the oil producing nations, we blame Islam. And so on.

    All this is distraction.

We should quit thinking American, European, Latino, Muslim, etc. And start thinking of those that are cool and want a better world and those that want to look after their own selfish interests.

    Thats what I think.

    Josh
