Not as emo is now-a-days to a degree (Thrice has plenty of mosh parts- and EMO kids love them_there still is plenty of rockin emo- screamo IS the new emo.. you don't think all those pretty scensters are jammin Dashboard do you? That's for mall chicks) but back then that WAS emo.

Hell- New York city kids considered Drive Like Jehu, and Fugazi a sissy emo bands to pick on.

Shit has changed over the years- but Turning Point was one of the Pioneers of the "emo" sound- Skip the singer, a good firend of mine (RIP) was as EMO as they come- did you ever here "Shadow Season" or "GodSpeed" or any of the other projects they had?

It all doesn't fucking matter really- but what SPIN magazine thinks is EMO today- was not then... when it started... EMO then wasn't watered down rock- it was rock- it was hardcore- thus even it's original term "Emotional Hardcore". A typical "emo" show would be-
    Turning Point
    Flagman
    Lifetime
    EndPoint

Again, shit was sappy- but raw- cry baby bands all happened later on- taking Sunny Day and milking their sound-

Most importantly it was a semi-punk movement against the state of hardcore- now that it is no longer- the meaning and term is long gone not unlike the idea of punk itself.
