    The term EMO comes from a Maxium Rock-n-Roll interview with "Embrace", a DC band on Discord records featuring Ian MacKaye from Minor Threat, Fugazi, ..etc.

    They asked how he would describe the sound of Embrace's music- Ian responded that it was "more than punk, more emotional than hardcore... emotional hardcore."

    Dag Nasty and Rites of Spring started using the term- and some yahoo down the line termed it "EMO" and thus the end as we know it.
