    its all about client need i suppose.

    We are upfront about our ftp/editing access.

    Clients come to us for our expertise and if they want to edit their own pages, we recommend other firms. No harm, just not the right fit for us. We are very protective of our designs and we know that the average client doesnt know the first thing about our industry.

    we have a CMS tool that allows for editing the text and certain photos, etc. the design stays ours.

    FTP is one of the biggest security risks. We rarely allow it, and if we do it is for tech guys in select companies. public ftp is done via form uploads, etc. makes it better for clients' clients and not as big of a risk. Also you can use a server side virus scanner at that point, or deny certain extensions. ...
