Thanks for the comments and advice, I initially presented two logo's along with reasons for choosing the style, which I thought backed up the brief, taking a look at one of their other logos (http://www.flashtext.co.uk/form... I'm kinda thinking that they might want to go with their previous designer.
No problem I suppose, just need to forget about it and move on.
