    I don't think they're ugly at all - I like the way they look .. they're simple in a brutish sort of way .. they don't make lame attempts at being "pretty" (lame colours, garnishes, shiny embellishments, etc.). The Helvetica (or Akzidenz Grotesk) of laptops ;D

    For a wintel laptop you can't go wrong with IBM.

    Toshiba's are also quite solid (from my experience).
