Whatever floats your boat. If you like sausages, dig in. There's so many reasons people decide to go veg; health, ethical, religon...
When you get down to it though, any living thing with a central nervous system is responsive to pain. So on the rational side of it, it just makes sense.
P.S. Here's a bumper sticker I saw on the way to work this morning. (Dallas)
