I know what you mean... always wanted to get recognition, money, the good assignments.... in the end the only thing that matters is being happy with what you do and get some luvin'.
I don't believe you can really change but you can adapt the way you react and look upon stuff. If you constantly react against your own nature you are not being totally you i think... try to stay happy, and if the girl was really ment for you she'll come back. if not, someone else is bound to come on your way!
