the thing about Ottawa is that it is really boring. I've heard that it's on the move, but that was only from people that live there. Some dude one night that owns Zaphod's was at a bar here in Toronto and he was raving about Ottawa, but then again, he lives there.
Montreal kicks ass. I spent about 10 months there and loved it. It's a very lively city. A lot of people wear red pants (seriously, it's some sort of epidemic there) but that's another story. As snuggles said, if it were possible to operate there on a business level I'd be there in a second, problem is there's not enough clients and they're kinda "full" as far as design/web firms go.
Somebody mentioned Paris. I'm assuming Paris France is fantastic, never had the opportunity to visit. But, in all seriousness, Paris Ontario is actually quite nice. It's a little sleep town but if you're looking to retire it'd probably be great.
nLHB, I only have one thing to say to you: you live in Calgary. People there worship beef and wear cowboy hats, and they're proud of it.
I'll take the city any day over Green Acres.
