with this, my 1000th post (crowd applauds)...

i totally agree with you on theo & co. upper management are a bunch of classy guys and they definitely have created a better atmosphere. also, the move to keep fenway was a nice touch as well. gives it a feel for an old european soccer stadium now. plus the concerts at fenway are a nice touch (cant wait til theo gets pearl jam to play).

as far as simmons, yeah i do read his shit when he posts, however, i have very mixed feelings about it. i was into him when he had his own little website on AOL Hometown (basically a geocities-esque page) because my older brother had a friend that knew him and turned me on to the site. i thought he had sold out by going to digital city boston. he was the guy that me and my friends would tell other people about, kind of like the underground band you were into. then he went to ESPN... in one respect i was really happy for him cos he was making great cash and, hey, he's gotta make a living. but then he started rehashing all his older shit and just updating it and playing it off like it was new. some of his older shit about the celtics was absolutely priceless but now he's just rehashing it with the new players. then he moves to LA to do the kimmel show and i think me and my friends pretty much lost interest at that point. but it wasnt until i saw him on I Love the 90's that i almost puked in my mouth. it just kind of annoys me that my girlfriend is like 'did you read the new simmons? he is so hilarious!' i guess it just the overexposure that gets me now, but like i said, he's like the underground band that got big on you and you felt he sold out.

with that said, i still read his shit and get laughs out of it, but i am still looking back to the good ole days...
