I lived in Acapulco for about a year in my early years. So I wouldnt know much about it know. The only thing that i can recomend is to stay in the hotel Princess, which it is near the aiport. and the section it is located is called "Punta Diamante" (diamond point) Also that is the best place for swiming and laying out to the sun since that section is still considered "virgin" from turists, or at least from population.
YOu want to go to "La Quebrada" where you can see guys diving into the ocean from the side of a mountain from about 100 feet or more off the ground.
Acapulco is not that big so as soon as you arrive to "downtown" you wont need like a rental car, you can visit the whole beach by foot.
